Acrylic: A Safer and More Robust Display Case

Whilst most display cases are made from glass due to it’s opacity and strength, the right acrylic material can be just as effective.

Acrylic is much safer than glass when it comes to handling and transportation. It is a lightweight material that is less likely to break or shatter, reducing the risk of injury and damage to artefacts. In the event of an accident, acrylic tends to crack instead of shattering into sharp pieces.

Not only is acrylic durable, it will also keep your possessions looking their best. Acrylic provides excellent optical clarity, allowing exhibition visitors to view artefacts without distortion. High-quality acrylic has optical properties that closely resemble glass, providing a clear viewing experience. Perspex® is also resistant to UV, allowing you to protect detailed items such as paintings and books from sun damage.

If you are looking for a bespoke exhibition or working in a specific area, we can create acrylic display cases to any size. We can also cut, drill, and form the acrylic to suit any unique shape or size, including the addition of lighting.

Acrylic is extremely easy to clean and maintain. It can be cleaned using a mild solution without the risk of scratching or damaging the surface. Additionally, acrylic is less prone to staining compared to glass, which can be affected by fingerprints or other contaminants.

Bespoke products for your Specific Needs

Make optimal use of the space inside your museum with bespoke, cut-to-size display cases. Standard cases may not fully utilise the available space, or showcase your artefacts in the best way. By choosing a made-to-measure display case from Hampshire Plastics, you can be sure that your exhibition space will look it’s best. The case can be custom designed to fit precisely into your desired location, ensuring efficient use of space and creating a visually cohesive and harmonious display.

Bespoke cut-to-size display cases offer the advantage of aligning with your desired aesthetic vision. You can customise the case’s materials, finishes, colours, and other design elements to harmonise with the overall theme or atmosphere of your exhibition. This level of customisation allows you to create a cohesive and visually stunning display that enhances the impact of your artefacts.
