We recently undertook a project to fabricate a scaled-down wave tank for a university exhibition. We worked with Just One Ocean and their technical drawings to produce a working wave tank for them to use in demonstrations.

The wave tank is equipped with interchangeable shelves resembling different beach landscapes and live plant boxes, the tank can simulate many real-life situations, providing students with a hands-on learning experience.

The paddle can be put into one of three positions, so that students can create various powers of wave, and add trays of seaweed to replicate their calming effects and the natural regrowth processes found along coastlines.

Constructed entirely from clear cast acrylic, the wave tank showcases our proficiency in working with different materials and thicknesses to achieve optimal performance and durability. The transparent nature of the acrylic material offers a clear view of the wave dynamics, enhancing the educational value of the tank.

“The tank was a great success at the show. The university guys loved it!” – David, Just One Ocean.

We have a wide range of experience working with scientific university projects, from this small-scale wave tank all the way to room-size research tanks.

At Hampshire Plastics, we possess extensive experience collaborating on scientific university projects, ranging from small-scale prototypes like the wave tank, to large-scale research facilities. If you have a project in mind or would like to explore possibilities for collaboration, we invite you to reach out to us through our contact form. We look forward to discussing how we can bring your ideas to life.
